The weather was even better for Friday’s dolphin trip, indicating to us that summer really is around the corner. We departed at approximately 1430 and we were ready. We weren’t thrilled with the murky water, but we found no reason to complain as we were soon observing a group of over 20 Atlantic spotted dolphins! From the surface it looked like a mating group, with adults clustered together and very active at the surface and youngsters zipping back and forth between the group and the boat.

The Bimini research season truly begins!
We’ve been waiting all winter for it, but the research season in Bimini has officially begun! On Thursday I departed on the inaugural dolphin trip for Bimini Adventures’ newest boat addition. This comfy outboard is perfect for small and medium-sized groups, including today’s four passengers. I really enjoyed chatting with you all. Thank you for the wonderful conversation.
We departed shortly after 2 p.m. in search of dolphins. They made us wait a bit, but we were pleased to be able to watch six bottlenose dolphins from the boat.

ID#094 was born in the summer of 2004 and stayed close with her mom all the way through the summer of 2010. She is very playful and frequently rides the bow of the boat – belly up! For $750, you can be the lucky supporter to give ID#094 her permanent name.

ID#094 is the female offspring of White Blotch (#29). ID#094, affectionately called, “Little Dot,” has the distinction of being the wild Bimini dolphin whose birthday is almost known. We observed her mother pregnant in July 2004. Less than 3 weeks later, we saw #094! Of course, we could not add #094 to our photo-ID catalog until she developed her first spots.

O Projeto de Comunicação de Golfinho (DCP) é focado em duplo objetivo de pesquisa científica e educação: nós retiramos resultados dos projetos de pesquisa e os divulgamos aos programas educacionais para estudantes de todas as idades. O DCP possui um time de pesquisadores (profissionais formados, estudantes de graduação, estagiários e voluntários) que trabalha junto para examinar como os golfinhos se comunicam, para poder lançar mais luz na significação sobre a interação entre indivíduos e grupos.

Перед тем как мы обсудим множество способов коммуникации дельфинов важно для начала четко определить, что же такое коммуникация. Это просто: коммуникация – это передача информации.
