(Grand Bahamas Island).

Justin PHD Dissertation

Citation:  Gregg, J. D. (2008). Joint Attention and Echoic Eavesdropping in Wild Bottlenose Dolphins (Tursiops aduncus). Unpublished doctoral dissertation, University of Dublin, Trinity College, Dublin, Ireland.

Abstract:
Experimental work has provided initial evidence that dolphins are able to use the information present in click echoes generated from the echolocation of conspecifics to succeed in object detection and discrimination tasks.

Dolphin Mysteries

DCP is pleased to annouced that a new book from Kathleen M. Dudzinski (director of the Dolphin Communication project) and Toni Frohoff from Yale University Press will be available in October 2008.
“Dolphin Mysteries: Unlocking the secrets of communication”.
Check out the Dolphin Mysteries website – http://www.dolphinmysteries.com
Our book is about dolphin-dolphin and dolphin-human communication and is written for a general audience. We present accurate facts about dolphins generally and about their communication and cognition with conservation as well. We illustrate our text with stories from our field experiences. Our book is six chapters and about 250 pages.

Meeting Dolphins

Meeting Dolphins: My Adventures in the Sea
By Kathleen Dudzinski

Meeting Dolphins is one of two companion books from National Geographic Books that tie in to the MacGillivray Freeman Films large format production DOLPHINS. The adult book, Dolphins, by Tim Cahill chronicles research by Dudzinski, Bernd Würsig and Alejandro Acevedo in the Bahamas, Japan and Patagonia, Argentina. Meeting Dolphins, written by Kathleen Dudzinski, is targeted to children ages eight and older. In her own words, Kathleen tells her story of swimming with dolphins to observe them and to learn how they communicate in the wild.

Frequently Asked Questions
What the heck is a Podcast?
Podcasts are audio and video files that you can download to your computer and listen to whenever you want. The name ‘podcast’ is a bit misleading – you do not need an iPod to listen to a podcast; anyone with a computer and an internet connection can download podcasts. Podcasts often sound a lot like a traditional radio broadcasts, but style and content vary depending on the subject matter. For instance; NPR offers podcasts of their popular radio programs, MIT provides podcasts of lectures for undergraduate classes.
