DCP Deep Dive: Patterns in Dolphin Calf Initiated Contact Exchanges
DCP recently investigated how bottlenose dolphin calves initiated physical contact differently based on their age and sex, and the age and sex of the receiver. Including all individuals in the group as receivers, not just the mother, for all calf-initiated contacts revealed the overall development of tactile behaviors in these calves.
In this Deep Dive, you’ll hear directly from recently graduated master’s student, Savanna Duda, who is the lead author on the soon-to-be published paper.
This Deep Dive is geared toward ages 14+, but all are welcome.
