Last Day! Last Day of data collection in 2025!

The pouring rain all night suggested we’d be washed (or muddied) out this morning. But that was not the case. Thank goodness for current! The current was a bit stronger than yesterday, and the underwater visibility was good, at least at the start of my session. Alita had Buzz with her much of the session (see featured photo). She also had a piece of seagrass (or 2 or 3, below) and was playing with it (or different bits) almost the whole session.

Lenca passed by and showed me the Sharpnose pufferfish he was mouthing (above)! Rocky, Buzz, and Tank continued their boisterous play while Kami was glued to Poli’s head and intent on touching Kathleen’s mask with her rostrum.

Don and Marie did the first and second dives of the day and had some choppy seas and limited visibility but also got to watch some lobsters and other sea critters. Today was also the day to clean gear and pack up – tomorrow is our return travel. We had on/off again rain showers … it was sunny one minute and you could be drenched the next. Good for filling the cisterns but not great for staying dry!

This was a good week – and each one is different. We collected about 4 hours of video with the MVA and two GoPros (one forward-facing and one back-facing). We will be kept busy with video analyses!

Cheers
