Slow to start …

… but then some old friends seen again.

We had a slow morning, with no dolphin seen from the big boat. We did two dinghy searches – one in the morning and one in the afternoon. The morning trek provided us with two spotted dolphins. They were not interested in us or in bow-riding. We had a bit of a chop and a slight swell most of the day but these and the wind decreased in the early afternoon. Dolphins were sighted in the distance, in one of the many layered blue color bands of sea. We decided to approach from the dinghy and try to identify individual dolphins. This was a good-sized group. At least 17 spotted dolphins. Mostly mothers and calves and a few juveniles. Two adult males and a few subadult males swam with us prior to all the dolphins moving out of view with us not following. But I was able to identify several moms and young calves. #2 (Little Gash), #42 and others. Double Gash and Macho were around as was Echo … fun to see them again. We all were exhausted this evening … much swimming and getting in and out of the water. Cheers Kathleen
