Not only was today Savanna’s birthday, but it was also Maya Key Day! So, after morning data collection (prep in featured photo), which we did 30 minutes early so our divers could visit the wreck of the Aguilar, almost everyone prepared to travel to Maya Key for dives or snorkeling. You can see the Maya Key crew in front the aviary.
They met a few monkeys on the island, enjoyed lunch (yummy banana chips!), and a slightly bumpy wet ride back (for the divers, not the snorkeler). While they were on Maya Key, Manon and Kathleen stayed back to process data and had a delightful coffee break, island style.
While enjoying our coffee on the lobby terrace, Manon rescued a Monkey Lala that had infiltrated the coffee stand! Bill and Michelle also enjoyed some downtime at AKR when everyone else was at Maya Key.
We came together at the end of the day to bid the sun goodnight.
Then, it was off to dinner where everyone in the dining room sang Happy Birthday to Savanna … they cake was aflame!
Tomorrow we start a bit later again but look forward to more dolphin data collection and more snorkeling and diving.
Cheers
