On Tuesday, 25 June, come learn about underwater noise from Dr. Lindy Weilgart in back-to-back talks (= something for everyone!).
In her Deep Dive talk, geared towards ages 14+, topics will include the main sources of underwater noise pollution, the various impacts that have been found, and possible solutions.
In her Dolphin Lesson, geared toward ages 6-13 but fun for everyone, Dr. Lindy will discuss how whales and dolphins are sensitive to underwater noise pollution, what the main sources of this pollution are, and possible solutions, including what kids can do to help. She will also show a few slides from her year-long research trip across the Pacific Ocean, studying sperm whale sounds, with her then 5 yr. old and 10-mo. old.
The Deep Dive starts at 11:00 a.m. ET. The Dolphin Lesson follows, starting at approximately 11:50 a.m. ET. Both talks will be posted to DCP’s website, YouTube, and Vimeo pages in the days following the talks.
