Laundry consumed yesterday

Today had local flare!

Both of us grew up with a washer and dryer in our homes. Heading to the laundromat here on Bimini, however, can make doing laundry an adventure in and of itself. You never know what you are going to get–will there be plenty of washers available? Will the washer be available, but not the dryer half an hour later? Will your bottle of laundry detergent get a hole in the bottom and leak all over the road? Things like this make laundry day a challenge. Yesterday, we thought we were being clever and decided to do our laundry on a Friday, rather than wait until busy Saturday. Apparently the rest of the island had the same idea. Our efficient laundry day turned into a 4 hour event, and yes, it ended on a torrential downpour of a note. But, we have clean clothes now!
Today the seas were quite rough, but that didn’t put a damper on the final event of the Miss and Little Miss Native Fishing Tournament competition. We attended the event to show our support of Shannon and Kaila Keefe, daughters of Bill and Nowdla who own Bimini Undersea. In true Bimini fashion, the event was scheduled to begin at 19:30 and actually began around 20:45. It didn’t finish until shortly before midnight! As we did our best to stay awake, we couldn’t help but wonder how the girls, as young as seven, were staying awake and so cheerful! All of the girls did a fabulous job and we appreciated being invited to the event.
Not sure what tomorrow will hold…

Until next time,
Kel and Darcie
