Change Over Day!

Data collection was truncated this morning because Tank just could not get enough of Manon’s fins! The underwater visibility was better but still a tad silty. That said, there was quite a lot of contact behavior between the dolphins, too.

After our trek to Bailey’s, everyone returned to their rooms to prepare luggage for transport to the Airport. So, we all had a slightly delayed breakfast, but it was still delicious! Bill was on the first bus and then Michelle, Sue, Kaylie, Marianne, Michael, and Mickey were on the second. Savanna is staying with us for the CSU week.

We heard from Don and Shane this AM by text, and everyone was well on their way!

The CSU students arrived to AKR before 2 pm! We had a chance to visit Bailey’s Key and receive an orientation from Jen, Education Director at RIMS, before supper. We are all raring to go for the week. Here we list each of our first impressions.

Anna – It’s very hot and sticky but I’m looking forward to the friends and experiences I’m going to have this week.

Avery – Got to start making new connections with people on the trip and have an exciting outlook on what the week’s going to be.

Dominick – I’m really excited to see more of the dolphins after in just a short amount of time being able to see how social and playful they are with each other.

Evelyn – I’m excited to see more of the dolphins’ different behaviors because when I’ve seen them in the past they did not present as many behaviors as I’ve seen today.

Katie – I’m excited about the variety of experiences I will get after spending time in the RIMS classroom.

Megan – When we were coming up to Bailey’s Key, seeing the first dolphin fin made this whole experience come together and feel amazing and exciting.

Olivia – I think I already can tell we’re gonna have a great week because we already seem able to communicate well with each other.

Sarah – My impression was the food was amazing, the AC works perfectly, and excited to continue the new connections that I’ve made.

Savanna – Had to lug all my luggage up 86 steps but had Manon’s help.

Don – Jennifer’s orientation with the history and geography of AKR, RIMS was outstanding.

Manon – Welcome CSU student group!

Shane – Looking forward to a new week and it’s good to be back home.

Cheers
